Anchor Counseling is comprised of the marriage team of John and Stephanie Tobey. Combining the strengths of two disciplines, social work and marriage and family therapy, they successfully collaborate to address your needs and goals. This professional team works hard to ensure your counseling needs are met in a meaningful and compassionate way.
John Tobey, MA, EdS, LPC, NCC
John is a licensed professional counselor with over 16 years of experience in the mental health field. John has worked in a variety of settings including outpatient mental health clinics, hospitals, and agencies. He has a master's degree in counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (Hamilton, MA) and a second master's degree in marriage counseling and family therapy from The College of New Jersey (Ewing, NJ). John's training in Christian theology, counseling, and marriage and family therapy enables him to integrate all three into a comprehensive approach to helping people.
Stephanie Tobey, MSW, LCSW
Stephanie is a licensed clinical social worker who received her Master's degree in social work from the University of Pennsylvania. She has worked in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania, at Friends Hospital (Phila, PA), and as the director of wraparound services at Lenape Valley Foundation (Doylestown, PA). Stephanie is currently on the Advisory Board for the Social Work Department at Philadelphia Biblical University. Stephanie has worked as both an outpatient counselor and also as a behavior specialist for children with developmental disabilities. Stephanie's ability to put her clients at ease creates a compassionate environment conducive to growth and improvement for her clients. Stephanie also offers clinical supervision for clinicians seeking licensure as professional social workers.
