About Anchor Counseling & Consulting
Two Disciplines, One Practice, All Built Around You
Anchor Counseling & Consulting is built around the combined training of John and Stephanie Tobey. John brings graduate-level training in counseling and marriage and family therapy; Stephanie brings a clinical social work background with experience across hospital, outpatient, and community settings. Together, they support individuals, couples, adolescents, and families working through anxiety, trauma, relationship concerns, parenting stress, and major life transitions.
Many clients come specifically seeking faith-integrated counseling. Others simply want a skilled therapist who can listen carefully and help them develop healthier patterns. Either way, every person who walks through the door receives the same professional care and respect.

John Tobey, MA, EdS, LPC, NCC
John is a licensed professional counselor with over 16 years of experience in the mental health field. He has worked in outpatient mental health clinics, hospitals, and agencies, and holds two graduate degrees: a master’s in counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (Hamilton, MA) and a second master’s in marriage counseling and family therapy from The College of New Jersey (Ewing, NJ). His training in Christian theology, counseling, and marriage and family therapy allows him to weave all three into a single, coherent approach to helping people.

Stephanie is a licensed clinical social worker with a Master’s degree in social work from the University of Pennsylvania. Her clinical background spans the Department of Psychiatry at Penn, Friends Hospital in Philadelphia, and a director-level role overseeing wraparound services at Lenape Valley Foundation in Doylestown. She currently serves on the Advisory Board for the Social Work Department at Philadelphia Biblical University and has worked as both an outpatient counselor and a behavior specialist for children with developmental disabilities. Stephanie also offers clinical supervision for clinicians seeking licensure as professional social workers.
